About Lon McGowan

I enjoy building businesses that thrive because of the people

In 2001 I founded iClick with 14 credit cards and a handful of IOU’s from friends and family. The idea was simple– import low cost consumer electronics from China, brand them iClick, and sell them through retailers. I made a lot of sales…but no profit. The retailers were eating my lunch. By 2003 we changed the business model and sold our goods as brand-able electronics through promotional product distributors (ASI/PPAI). Two years later we narrowed the product line to branded USB drives and soon become the largest supplier in North America.  In July 2011, iClick began manufacturing branded pens.  Millions of pens.  So, from consumer electronics in retail to branded USB drives and pens.  What a trip.

In 2010 I founded, along with a partner, Creativello. It’s a creative service agency based in Seattle. The agency develops brand identity with logos, messaging, websites, marketing collateral, etc. We have a team of designers and creatives that totally kick ass. I am not one of them but I enjoy giving my design opinions and they are kind enough to listen. Maybe it’s because I sign their checks.

As an entrepreneur and active member of the business community, I an a frequent speaker to university entrepreneurship programs and a past board member of Seattle University’s business school.  My current involvement in charitable organizations includes formal mentoring of undergraduate business students through the University of Colorado’s PMP program, serving on the board of the Denver Art Society, and being an active partner of Social Venture Partners.

I really don’t like web forms because when I fill them out I never expect a response. Perhaps that’s why I rarely complete them. Here’s how you can get in touch with me. I will respond promptly.
